I am in the process of writing a book about this experience, Ben’s journey and our journey as a family and am already over 20,000 words in!
It will very much reflect on our own personal experience, with help and encouragement for others facing this and similar diagnoses. It started out as a few notes about what was happening and my need to help myself as a parent through this and now I really hope to help others by raising more awareness for stem cell donation and its undeniable blessings and benefits to others as well as helping others to navigate through the same and similar journeys.
I hope in due course this will have some benefit for a charity very close to our hearts.
This will be a fabulous and informative read for all those, parents, family and patients having endured that ‘journey’ of a transplant and also those who are on those first steps of that long journey. And It is a long journey and I remember only too well the highs and sadly the lows too when my son went through 2 transplants. Well done on putting pen to paper Ginny and writing about it. Good luck for the book and for Bens continuing health improvement.
Thank you, Andy. As you know, it is a journey and we have good days and not so good days, but over all, we take every day one step at a time and life is slower and we are perhaps more cautious. Early days, but I am so determined to help others who find themselves in this position. It’s tough and some days, well, difficult to be inspired. Then I look at the children and they are all coping with so much and really doing the best they can under difficult circumstances. Always looking out for the rainbow every day ?
