Birthday and Recuperation

We’ve been back at Queen Alexandra Hospital for nearly two weeks now whilst Ben continues to recuperate from his first round of chemotherapy. Thankfully his counts are all looking good now, and he is in good spirits. The staff have been looking after us very well, and Ginny and I have been learning how to take care of feeds, water & meds through his NG line under their watchful eyes (no pressure! ;-).

We will be returning to Piam Brown on Monday to start the second phase of chemotherapy, but in the mean time have been told Ben can spend some time out of hospital, so we are planning some trips out over the weekend.

Ben turned Eleven on Saturday, and despite a diving catch for an undelivered present, we had a good, if unusual, day celebrating on the ward. Friends and family have been very generous, with Lego being a consistent feature!

Birthday Boy!

We are still waiting on news for a stem cell donor, but continue to be gratified at the number of friends who have been signing up as donors with https://www.dkms.org.uk/en and https://www.anthonynolan.org/

We are in touch with DKMS and they are planning to run a campaign with Ben in the near future, so watch this space…
